Legends In The Making
Who To Watch In The Final Four
We all know history is made each March (and early April) as the Madness that is the NCAA Basketball tournament ensues.
In a field of 64, however, it can be difficult to follow every team, let alone witness the stellar performances of the next generation of potential NBA stars.
With the CBA agreement in 2005 that raised the draft eligibility age to 19, young players are more or less required to play at least one year of NCAA competition. This means that the next Kobe or Lebron could be playing in Houston this weekend!
Let’s take a look back at some of the superstar alumni of this years Final Four teams.
Although the Knicks have struggled this season, their leader, Carmelo Anthony, remains one of the game’s top talents. A factor that was evident in his first and final season with this year’s Cinderella story, Syracuse.
Melo led the Orangemen to their first ever NCAA Championship with a double-double in the championship game. Relive the highlights that led the forward to being selected 3rd overall in the NBA draft (Lebron was #1).
The Oklahoma Sooners will also be taking the court Saturday, so we can’t forget to mention Blake Griffin! Although Griffin faced a bit of adversity brought on by injuries during his time as a sooner, he was able to push the limits on records set by the like of Larry Bird and Tim Duncan!
Take a trip back in time by watching Griffin’s top highlights from his highly awarded NCAA play below!
Who will be the NCAA athlete to light up the NBA? Another Sooner, Buddy Heild, is certainly drawing attention after his spectacular performance so far in the tournament. Could Syracuse freshman Malachi Richardson see a new wave of exposure after helping the Orangemen advance with his 23 points and 7 rebound in the Elite 8?
While we may not have a clear cut answer as to who the next big NBA star will be, we can be certain that this year’s Final Four is loaded with exciting talent!
